If I’m not near a sink, I don’t wash the fruit I’m about to eat.
I eat an apple a day. (Love those in-season Galas.)
And, prior to eating said apple the only preparation I do is tear off the apple sticker so as to prevent a possible choking hazard.
It’s basically a lesser of two evils theory:
I live in Mexico. Should I really use the water to wash my fruit? Or just eat it as is?
The FDA encourages us to wash fresh fruit for 20 seconds under warm water with soap. Gross. I’d rather not. See here. I don’t want suds on my apple.
I’ll take my chances. I’m a gambler.
