At 19 weeks I’m still waiting to actually look pregnant. However, for the first time ever, last week my co-workers said they could SORT of see a bump under my shirt. That’s fun. 🙂
What’s Lila doing this week? Let me tell you. She’s swimming. A lot. It’s fun. I feel like I have my very own little buddy with me wherever I go.
Let’s dive in.
Q: So, how do you pronounce, “Lila”?
A. Easy – peasy. “Lie” as in a mis-truth, and “La” as in, “Deck the halls with boughs of holly, fa, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la.”
Q. What does the little mango’s name mean?
A: Well, apparently it’s of Arabic origin and means, “Night”. I’ve also read that it’s Hebrew for, “You are mine.” (I prefer that etymology.) And, as a nod to our current location and my child’s possible future citizenship, Lila also means, “purple” (my least favorite color) in Español and is a nod to the Lilac Tree (my favorite flowering shrub).
Q. Now that the fruit has a gender and a name, do you regret finding out?
A. No. While I always wanted to wait to find out the gender (and I admire those of you who do!), it’s been beneficial for me to be able to call her by her name. I want to get to know her. I need a while to warm up to change. Especially change that will be living with me for the next 18 years.
Q. What don’t they tell you about pregnancy?
A. A lot.
Q. When is your next appointment?
A. We shall see the mango on Thursday. I’ll post pictures afterwards.
More pics next week!
