I wrote here that I jumped on The Hunger Games bandwagon because I could get it for free on my kindle since I’m an Amazon Prime member.
Now, I don’t read science fiction. I can’t stand fake names. Yep, don’t make up a name and expect me to read a book about it. I can’t. I don’t have a vivid imagination. I like facts. And fashion. I will not read about unicorns and time machines and magic potions. (NO, I haven’t read Harry Potter and I have no intention to. And yes, I am American.)
Nor will I read about vampires. (I read the first in that series and it bored me to tears.)
Enter: The Hunger Games. The protagonist’s name is Katniss. (UGH. Fake name!) And there’s another guy called Peeta. (I just consider this an alternate pronunciation of “Peter”) And there’s Haymitch and Cinna and a girl named Glimmer.
But I read it anyway.
…and I couldn’t put it down.
I am the mother of two children who have been SICK since last week and I still FOUND THE TIME to read the first book and now I’m 90% through the second in the series: Catching Fire. (See here.)
Hey. You guys? Read these books. They’re a quick read. And they’re good.
Remember: they are FREE for Amazon prime members. (See here.)
UPDATE: Finished Book #2. Now on to Mockingjay. Hope to get through it this weekend. You know, in my spare time.
