By Kate Atkinson
The first several chapters beguiled me… it’s the story of a woman who goes back and forth in time… but not in a time machine, in real life. Feelings of de ja vu, etc. Then cut to World War II. Then cut to lots of death and sadness. Not the ideal book to read at this point in my life, but it was good. Just be prepared for loss.

Saw the trailer for the movie and thought, “Hey! Let’s read the book before I watch the movie.” From what I understand, the movie (which I haven’t watched yet), is about the author’s experience with Philomena, the Mom who was forced to give up her baby in Ireland in the early 1950’s. Instead, the book was all about the boy who was given up and his life. It wasn’t an easy life. Sigh. More loss. Be prepared.
I know, super-uneventful reviews right?
Exactly what I thought when reading. I hate that.
