My friends, here is your Screen Actors Guild Awards Red Carpet Fashion Recap. Let’s do this.
True story, first though…
This is the second awards show of the season. And, this is the second awards show of the season that I have forgotten about. As in, I didn’t even KNOW that was on. Am I losting my touch?!
I was very conflicted: watch RENT on Fox or watch the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Well, here I am.
I enjoy the SAG awards because the fashion is just fun.
Let’s get it started with Lady Gaga, because we should.
She’s wearing Dior Haute Couture and she looks amazing. I just love how grown up she looks.
She’s come a long way from wearing meat to this, right?
There appears to have been so many solid-colored gowns at this awards show.
Susan Kelechi Watson looks INCREDIBLE. This woman is stunning and her styling is ON. Love.
Also wearing a gorgeous shade of marigold was Tanika Ray. Wow.
In the gold family was this number.
And.
…eh…
I mean…
…at awards show someone dresses like the trophy.
Here we are.
Rumer Willis.
This.
Sigh.
Audible sigh.
What is this? The shoulders. The cut of the neckline. The overall frumpiness. I just can’t.
Her hair is great and her bangs game is a 10, but this dress is awful.
(It’s sooooooo long.)
And this is a mermaid on land.
My husband thinks this is a great color.
I agree with him. It’s a sort of “Bordeaux,” he said.
(May it be noted that Craig knows this shade because he dyed his hair this color in high school.)
That said – this is lovely. I myself never wear cut-outs, because at some point you need to sit down and I don’t want to look like a human cookie cutter, but… to each her own.
Sandra Oh‘s gown is tailored perfectly.
Wow.
Rachel Brosnahan in Dior looks lovely.
Her ice blue eyes and dress are stunning.
I adore her. I adore Mrs. Maisel, but I’m not in love with this.
Those sleeves look like a couple of Barbie parachutes.
I hate them.
HOWEVER, I love that shade of pink.
Laverne Cox always looks lovely but this is not a favorite.
It’s just…
…boring.
And it reminds me of when I was little and you could buy a vest or something and the necklace would come with it. As in, sewn into the fabric.
Look! Jane Fonda went to the SAG as a koi fish!
#scalesAreForFish
I love tassels.
Well done, Keltie Knight.
Perfection.
Lovely.
Perfection.
I cannot begin to tell you how much this doesn’t work for me.
But that’s ok.
The black belt kills me.
Cara Santana’s gown is incredible.
This flowing river gown is lovely. The only thing I don’t love is that the fabric appears to be somewhat roughly cut. I can’t handle that.
EH.
See, now I could never wear this.
Choker-like neckline. (Blech.)
Cap sleeves. (blech)
I just don’t love this.
This looks like a Duggar wedding gown in red.
Look! She’s wearing a lung!
I’m sorry. I just don’t love this either.
It’s kind of live a sherbet nightgown.
I cannot get over the purple lipstick.
This gown is a leftover from her cousin’s wedding.
Nope.
Eh. Fine. Whatever.
I am in love with this gown.
I love the styling.
I love it all.
(Confession: I only watched the first season of Ozark. I sort of lost interest in the second season.)
(Look! A non-black belt!)
So I LOVE a print.
LOVE IT.
I think this is awesome.
Would I wear it?
Of course I would.
Lucy Boynton looks great.
And then there’s this print.
It’s horrific.
THIS, my friends, is bad.
Nope.
Ice skate, much?
Melissa Tang, I love this.
It’s chic.
It’s great.
Melissa McCarthy looks ravishing.
I love this.
This gown look like an x-ray.
Pass.
Michelle Yeoh looks absolutely stunning in this gown.
The color…it’s gorgeous.
I probably wouldn’t have chosen those earrings, though.
Patricia Clarkson looks UH-mazing.
I love this on her.
EH.
Very star trek.
(Another belt.)
Hmmm…
Mandy Moore looks like she’s just not having it today, but she looks gorgeous.
I love her eye makeup.
I also love the black belt. (Yes, another belt.)
All of this is great.
I absolutely do not like this.
It’s horrific.
Is that underwear on her shoulders?
Lyric Ross looks absolutely STUNNING. I love this gown.
Gorgeous.
Fun.
I’d wear this in a hot second.
Here’s Lupita Nyong’o.
I’m in love with the dress/bottom, but I just don’t love the top.
At all.
That bow.
You guys.
I cannot get over the bow on her head.
I HATE IT.
I don’t even see the dress.
(Although it does look like someone skinned a puffalump.)
Speaking of another travesty.
Look! JEM went to the SAG awards.
She does not look like she’s old enough to be wearing this.
This is absolutely adorable.
I’m not sure about the belt thing. It sort of looks like a windshield car accessory.
Time out.
How HUGE does Alec Baldwin’s head look?
Moving on…
Gemma Chan looks incredible.
I am in love with the construction of this dress.
I wouldn’t have done a black belt.
Another.belt.Ugh.
So, here’s the thing.
Gayle Rankin is doing her thing.
Would I wear this?
Of course not.
But, good for her.
And that bag is cool.
I cannot tell you how much I adore this photo of Emma Stone.
I swear to you, this is me at EVERY picture day during high school.
This is also me on picture re-take day.
This was my goal, though.
Lol.
Emma Stone in this Louis Vuitton number is fine. I’m not blown away.
RED.
WORN.
WELL.
Emily Osment looked stunning. This gown is perfect.
(I kind of wonder if it’s made of neoprene, though, you know? Like a can coozie? Like maybe she would float? Or be ready to ride a waverunner if necessary?)
Nope.
And the award for the “Clearly Most Uncomfortable Gown” goes to…
I love an ombre gown.
But, not this one.
The arm bangle + the thigh broach are confusing to me.
I wish her stylist wouldn’t have put the bow so high up around Chrissy Metz’ neck.
Truth?
I love Christmas.
I love this gown.
You could organize a min Christmas village right there in the top half.
WHAT IS WITH ALL OF THESE BLACK BELTS?
They matched.
They coordinated.
Like high school.
I can’t be angry.
#newlyweds
I was absolutely intrigued by Angela Bassett’s gown.
It reminds me of one of those teeny tiny shirts you can buy at your local chain pharmacy and they fit everyone.
But, the bottom-half looks pretty intricate and cool.
This is a very intense peplum on Amy Adams.
Eh.
I find it kind of intimidating.
And, on to the worst dressed.
This was easy.
Do I even need to explain this gown on Kimmy Gatewood?
Oy.
- The color.
- The collar is off.
- The sleeves are too long and ill-fitting.
- What is WITH the up-top boning?
This is so bad.
Also bad?
This.
Are these pants? Is this a swimsuit?
No.
Here’s what I kind of loved…
Allison Brie had the best bow of the evening.
She just dressed… differently. And? I support that.
You know I hate chokers, but this is great.
I am in LOVE with this Zac Posen gown on Julia Garner.
WOW.
This is absolute perfection on her.
That color.
That styling.
That gown.
That fabric.
That lip.
WOW.
FANTASTIC.
And then you’ve got Yara Shahidi and she looks AMAZING.
Incredible.
THIS. IS. EVERYTHING.
And there was something INCREDIBLY fun about Fiona Xie’s gown.
It was just…happy.
And then my ultimate favorite?
Well, Emily Blunt in Michael Kors.
Ms. Blunt is practically perfect in every way.
I can’t find a picture of the back, but I loved it.
I love, love, LOVE structured elements like this.
FUN.
Her makeup, the gown, everything was perfection.
Well, what did you think?
