I never participated in a legit talent show when I was a kid.
Tight-rolling my jeans crisply or reciting every character’s part from Grease or organizing the linen closet weren’t exactly performances that would enthrall an audience.

BUT, my girls did it. (Video, below.)

Performing as The Electric Stars with their sweet friend, Lila, they completely created and choreographed a dance… on their heelies. (Those little tennis shoes with wheels in them.) And, light-up gloves, thanks to Mimi.

I’m so proud of them.
It takes moxy, it takes gumption to stand up and perform in front of others.
…but then again, these kids, we don’t give them enough credit.

The trepidation and

They wanted to dance. So they signed up. They practiced. They picked a song. They figured out the moves. AND DID IT ALL THEMSELVES.
Just three girls: A Lila, a Lila and a Vivi.
All wearing denim.
Dancing in front of their friends and complete strangers.

Long live The Electric Stars and may that courage, that pride and those moves, follow them all of their days. Forever and ever.
Amen.
